Joined Rotarians for Fighting AIDS

Yesterday I received my lifetime membership pin for RFFA. Marion Bunch introduced me to this organization during the Rotary Medical Mission to Kenya this September. It is of special interest because of my involvement in the development of HIV tests that are used around the world. I encourage others to join.

Please check out their web page: http://www.rffa.org/ and join.

New polio video from Rotary and DNA vaccines

I am currently listening to a podcast on DNA vaccines. The advantage of such vaccines is that new vaccines can be made by changing the DNA sequence rather than developing new growth and processing technology for each new vaccine. However, they are not yet working well. These could be better than the current vaccines for polio once the technology is perfected.

Attended three Rotary meetings in the Southern Pines NC area

We are in Southern Pines with our horse and dog. There are three large Rotary clubs in the area: Southern Pines, Pinehurst and Sandhills.. I attended all three this week.

It was good to renew acquaintances from last year. I will probably make presentations on the Rotary medical missions to Kenya I participated in last year.

The Sandhills club meets at the Carolina hotel that includes a great breakfast buffet with music

ONBH Traning Fox Hounds in MA

In memory of a great horse, Kahlua

We had to put down Kahlua this monday. She was a great horse but the time had come to stop the suffering from an infection secondary to Cushings disease. We will miss her.
